The idea for TTfans was born during the Covid 19 pandemic when table tennis clubs were closed and players were forced to train at home without access to proper facilities. It was at this time that I did a webinar for Table Tennis Ireland (TTI) and posted some videos on social media offering advice to the house-bound National Junior girls and Senior ladies squads on how to train and keep fit at home. The idea struck that an online coaching portal would be a very valuable resource at a time like this, particularly as life for everyone had become largely an online one and post-pandemic people may still favour online resources either to replace some face to face coaching or to supplement it. Also there are many players who do not have regular access to a coach in their club or school, for whom an online resource would be most welcome.

During this time there was also an increasing interest in outdoor fitness and hobbies and although table tennis is largely an indoor sport, the interest in outdoor tables increased as people turned to outdoor leisure activities during the pandemic. This lead to the belief that there could be a market for a user-friendly beginners module aimed towards families and players taking the sport up for the first time. In fact I recorded most of the video tutorials for this module in my own back garden while my club was closed!

From here the project grew and there followed Improvers, Intermediate and Advanced modules covering all aspects of the sport.

I want to offer my members something more than other coaching websites, so as well as video demonstrations on technique and training drills, there are fitness training videos and information on tactics, psychology and sports nutrition. There is also a direct link from my site to CelticTT.com for all your equipment needs and advice.

Free members gain access to some of the video content and information, to the CelticTT link and to the blog. Become a Premium member and you will unlock access to the complete library of videos, all the information on psychology, tactics and nutrition and will have a direct link to me for questions and advice on your game or on your training and nutritional plans – an aspect that may be appealing particularly to female players, who would value the advice of a female coach who has “been there and done that!”

Every month new content will be added to the site and there will be new exciting articles and blog posts added on a regular basis.

Finally, I do not want to lose sight of the fact that many people, post-pandemic will prefer to return to a face to face approach and therefore I will also be offering my services as an on-site coach. Click the link on the home page to make an enquiry.

I look forward to developing and growing my site over the months and years to come. To this end the feedback of my members is invaluable so that I can build a resource to serve best their needs.
